Physiotherapy
is concerned
with both prevention and rehabilitation. Physiotherapy prevents or lessens
some physical problems, whether they are a result of injury, disease, repetitive
strain, long periods of inactivity or other causes. It helps to reduce pain
and enables people to remain active, become stronger and more flexible, and
to prevent further injury.
Specialties
at the clinic
orthopaedics, repetitive strain injuries, ergonomics and sports injury management.
In all instances, the goal is to design an appropriate rehabilitation programme
for the particular injury, constantly reassesing as healing progresses. Manual
therapy and/or electrical muscle stimulation, laser and ultrasound are used
by the physiotherapist, and if appropriate, massage therapy and/or a rehabilitation
programme specifically designed by the excercise therapist in consultation
with the physiotherapist, may be recommended as well.
As
rehabilitative sciences evolve
and new information becomes available, the Clinic's therapists make every
effort to keep up-to-date. Each month, there is an in-house educational session
attended by the Clinic's therapists. All of the therapists are actively involved
in post-graduate education
